Downtown Rocks n’ Runs is a family event sponsored by United Fund of Surry as part of the annual fund raising campaign kick-off event. The purpose of Downtown Rocks and Runs is to promote awareness of the United Fund and our mission to help our community-based 26 non-profit member agencies. This year, August 20th, we will be continuing the 5k run/walk and kids’ fun run, and our community rock bands at Blackmon Amphitheatre! The music will be from 6 o'clock p.m. until 10 o'clock p.m. Keep checking the website for the names of the bands that will be performing.
The race will start a 7:15 for the 5k and 6:30 for the Kids Fun Run. In addition to awards for runners, there will also be door prize drawings and some great rock n’ roll music at the race conclusion.Your race registration fee includes a race t-shirt, a reusable goodie bag tote, and a souvenir admission bracelet to the Blackmon Amphitheatre where the rock part of Downtown Rocks n’ Runs event is being held!

Gather in parking lot behind Mt.AiryCityMunicipalBuilding.The starting line for the fun run will be on West Church Street.
Downtown Rocks n’ Runs 5K Course:
Gather in front of the Mt.AiryCityMunicipalBuilding.Walk towards the Post Office parking lot at Cherry Street to the starting line.Head south on Cherry Street, go across Renfro behind Reeves Community Center, go left atGilmer Street, then go right onto East Pine Street (Hwy 89).You will then go right at the City Municipal Works Building entrance to the Ararat River greenway, proceed on the trail to the turnaround location (water stop), and run back out the trail to the exit at Riverside Park.You will go straight across Riverside Drive onto Independence Boulevard, go straight across Renfro Street, then turn left onto Main Street.The finish line will be in front of the Mt.AiryCityMunicipalBuilding.
