Representatives from the United Fund's 26 agencies
United Fund of Surry raises money to give 26 agencies assisting our neighbors in Surry County with food for needy, utility bill assistance, housing for low income, medical care for working poor, hospice care, and meals delivered to the home bound. We also fund agencies addressing youth development, our special needs population, the elderly and child abuse/neglect prevention and counseling services.
Our top recipients of funds are the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and Yokefellow Ministries.
Our agencies include 5 all-volunteer rescue squads, on call 24/7, could not operate without money from United Fund.
State monies that fund programs for a number of our agencies are being cut back or eliminated all together. Without funds from United Fund of Surry, agencies will be forced to cut services to our community. More than ever, these agencies will depend on us help to care for our community.
We also fund the county-wide 2-1-1 service which is a phone number anyone can use to find out what services are being offered in our country through our agencies or the government.
United Fund of Surry is not a United Way, so all money stays local. Our board directors and campaign chairs are all volunteers. We raise money through donations from individuals, local businesses including employee campaigns (utilizing payroll deduction).
We are a 501(c)3 so all donations are tax deductible. Our annual campaign kicks off in August with Downtown Rocks and Runs and continues through January. Donations are always appreciated in any amount and can be mailed to:
