Melissa Hiatt, Executive Director
Melissa has more than 30 years of non-profit leadership and philanthropy experience, she holds a master’s in public administration with a minor in nonprofit management.. Melissa is committed to a focus on community outcomes as the top strategy for increasing accountability and maintaining the United Funds leadership in philanthropy for Surry County. Her primary goal is to strengthen United Fund’s public-private partnerships and support community programming through our member agencies.
Melissa was born and raised in Surry County where she and her husband, Chris, have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Paula Hiatt, Events Specialist
Paula Hiatt became part of the United Fund of Surry in 2020, bringing with her a strong background in customer service. After stepping into the nonprofit world, she quickly discovered her true calling and passion for serving others.
A proud Surry County native and attended UNC Asheville, Paula is married to Steven Hiatt, and together they have 2 children..
